As anyone who has checked out the Old Projects section of this website they’ll know I use to do TV and movie reviews for Culture Jam, which is sadly no more. I’m slowly moving over my reviews to this website and one of the enjoyable aspects has been re-reading some of my reviews. When I was re-reading my review of the Pilot of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I noticed I had made a few predictions which it is safe to say that I got very wrong. Check below the break to see how wrong I was! There will be spoilers for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1 and 2 below!

My First Prediction

My review of the Pilot focused mainly on the new characters being introduced and I made a few predictions about where the characters would end up. My first prediction was regarding ‘lone hard man’ Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) who I said

by the end of the series he’ll undoubtedly have more friends than Justin Bieber on Twitter.

Well I definitely got this one wrong. Ward ended Season 1 locked in a S.H.I.E.L.D. cell more alone than at the started the show. By the end of season 2, even though he has loved and lost, he is still very much alone and closed off as a character. However, mad psychopath Ward is much more enjoyable than lone, hard man Ward.

 My Second Prediction

The second, and last prediction, I made was regarding Melinda May, a haunted retired field agent played by Ming-Na Wen. I suggested

What are the odds that it is because her old partner died in arms one day away from retirement?

Prepare for much humble pie eating. Almost all my reviews of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have been quite negative however, the episode where they reveal May’s past a fantastic hour of genre TV and up there with the best episodes of Doctor Who and other genre serial based TV shows. The episode is called Melinda. Look out for it!
